In short: your financial records stay on your iPhone, and in your own private iCloud if you turn on sync. We never receive them, and ExpendMe has no analytics, advertising or tracking.
This Privacy Policy explains how Christopher Ivy, the independent developer of ExpendMe ("we", "us", or "our"), handles information when you use ExpendMe (the "App").
ExpendMe is a personal budgeting and expense-tracking application designed to help you organize your financial information on your device. Optional features allow you to synchronize data through your private iCloud database, create backup files, and export records.
We aim to minimize the financial information that we receive. Under the current design described in this policy, we do not receive your locally stored financial records, iCloud database contents, backup files, or CSV exports through normal use of those features.
By using ExpendMe, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law requires consent for a particular processing activity, we will obtain that consent separately.
When you use ExpendMe, you may enter or maintain information such as:
This information is stored in a local database within the App on your device by default. We do not receive or view these financial records through the normal operation of the App. The information is used on your device to provide the features you request, including calculations, summaries, budgeting tools, and reminders.
ExpendMe stores certain preferences locally, including your currency, preferred start of week, and appearance settings. The App Lock setting is stored in the iOS Keychain. Your device's operating system manages the protection of this information.
If you use the ExpendMe Home Screen widget, the App shares a limited summary with the widget on your device. This may include projected cash, current cash, expected income, and bills due. The widget does not receive transaction records or account names under the current design.
If you enable bill reminders, ExpendMe schedules notifications on your device. Depending on your settings, notifications may display bill names and amounts. These notifications are generated locally rather than sent to you through a notification server we operate. Anyone who can see your Lock Screen may be able to see notification content, depending on your device settings.
If you purchase ExpendMe Pro or another paid feature, Apple and/or RevenueCat may process information needed to complete, validate, manage, and support your purchase.
Depending on the purchase method and configuration, RevenueCat may receive purchase or subscription status, transaction-related identifiers, an anonymous app user ID, and limited technical information associated with the purchase. RevenueCat does not receive your locally stored financial records through the subscription integration as described in this policy.
Apple processes App Store purchases and associated account and payment information under Apple's own policies. We do not receive your full payment card details merely because you purchase through Apple's In-App Purchase system.
If you purchase through an authorized external payment method, the external payment provider may collect the payment and transaction information described at checkout. Its privacy policy will apply to its handling of that information.
Your financial records are stored locally on your device by default. iOS Data Protection helps protect app data while the device is locked. The exact protection available depends on Apple's operating system, device security, and the relevant data-protection configuration.
We do not operate a cloud database that receives your financial records under the current design described here.
If iCloud Backup or computer backups are enabled on your device, ExpendMe's app data may be included in those backups. Backup behavior is controlled by iOS and your device settings. Apple or the software you use to create the backup handles the resulting backup data under its applicable terms and security practices.
ExpendMe Pro may offer optional iCloud synchronization. This feature is off by default. If you turn it on, supported financial records are copied to your private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account and synchronized with your other compatible devices.
Under the current design, this database belongs to your Apple Account. We do not have access to its contents through the App's normal operation, and ExpendMe does not transmit the database contents to us.
Apple stores and processes iCloud information under its own terms and privacy policy. Apple describes encryption for iCloud data in transit and at rest, but not every category of iCloud data is end-to-end encrypted. We do not represent that ExpendMe's iCloud data is end-to-end encrypted.
Turning sync off. Disabling synchronization stops future synchronization through the feature but does not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud. To remove stored iCloud data, you may need to manage it in your Apple Account settings under iCloud storage. Menu names may vary by iOS version.
If ExpendMe Pro ends. If your subscription expires or is canceled, iCloud synchronization may stop. Your local data remains on your device, but data already stored in iCloud may remain there until you remove it.
ExpendMe Pro may allow you to create a backup file by selecting the backup action in the App. A backup contains the financial records and certain settings included in the backup format.
Backup and CSV files are created when you request them. They are not encrypted or password-protected by ExpendMe. When you save or share a file through the iOS share sheet, it may be copied to Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, email, another application, or another destination you select.
Anyone who obtains an unencrypted file may be able to read its contents. You are responsible for protecting files you export, including copies held by third-party services or recipients.
We do not receive these files merely because you create, save, restore, or share them. The destination service's terms and privacy policy apply once you send or save a file there.
We use information that we receive, where applicable, for purposes such as:
Your locally stored financial information is used by the App on your device to provide the functionality you request. We do not use your local financial records for advertising or analytics, and we do not sell those records.
We do not receive financial information merely because you use the App's budgeting calculations, widgets, local notifications, backup creation, or CSV export features.
ExpendMe relies on certain third-party services to support its functionality.
RevenueCat helps manage ExpendMe Pro purchases and subscription entitlements. Depending on the configuration, RevenueCat may process purchase and subscription information, an anonymous app user ID, transaction identifiers, and limited technical information needed to validate and manage entitlements. RevenueCat does not receive your app's financial records through the integration described in this policy.

Apple provides services involved in:
Apple's handling of information is governed by Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices. For details, see apple.com/legal/privacy.
The current design described in this policy does not include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking SDKs. If we add services that collect or receive information in the future, we will update this policy as required by applicable law and revise our disclosures and consents where necessary.
We do not sell your personal information or share your locally stored financial records with advertising networks under the current design.
You can use the Erase All Data option in ExpendMe's Settings to delete the App's local financial records and associated app data covered by that feature. If iCloud sync is enabled, erasing all data may also synchronize the deletion to your private iCloud database and your other synchronized devices. Because synchronization can propagate deletions, make sure you have a separate backup if you wish to preserve your information.
Uninstalling ExpendMe removes its local app data, subject to the behavior of iOS and any remaining device or computer backups. Uninstalling the App does not necessarily delete data already stored in iCloud. You may need to remove that data separately through your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings.
Erasing data within ExpendMe does not delete backup or CSV files you previously saved or shared elsewhere. You must delete those copies from Files, iCloud Drive, email, other apps, and any recipients' storage as appropriate.
Purchase and subscription records held by Apple or RevenueCat are subject to their respective retention practices and any legal requirements. Erasing your ExpendMe financial data does not necessarily erase those purchase records.
If you contact us, we may retain your message and the information you choose to provide for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain support records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.
We take reasonable steps appropriate to the design of ExpendMe to minimize access to user information. Security-related features include local data storage, iOS Data Protection, use of the iOS Keychain for the App Lock setting, and private iCloud synchronization through your Apple Account when enabled.
However, no application, operating system, storage service, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use a strong device passcode, keep your operating system updated, protect your Apple Account, and avoid sharing unencrypted backup or CSV files through insecure channels.
If you believe your information has been exposed or your device has been compromised, take appropriate steps to secure your device and accounts.
ExpendMe is intended for users aged 13 and older, subject to any higher minimum age required in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner that requires parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to address it.
Parents and guardians should supervise minors' use of the App where appropriate. Because financial records may be sensitive, users should not enter information about other people without an appropriate legal basis or permission.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through a support request or other communication, please contact us.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information we hold about you. These may include the right to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or other rights provided by applicable law.
Because ExpendMe's financial records are stored locally or in your private iCloud database, we generally cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete those records on your behalf. You can manage local financial records through the App and manage iCloud data through your Apple Account settings. You can contact us regarding purchase-related information or personal information we may hold through support communications.
Where applicable law gives you rights over information processed by RevenueCat or Apple, you may also need to contact those providers directly. We will respond to privacy requests concerning information under our control in accordance with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
ExpendMe is intended for use in the United States and may be used by people in other countries where the App is available. Depending on the service you use, Apple and RevenueCat may process information in countries other than your own. Their applicable privacy policies and data-transfer practices govern their handling of that information.
Where applicable privacy laws grant additional rights or require specific disclosures, we will comply with those requirements.
The current App design described in this policy does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs and does not use your locally stored financial records to target advertisements.
Third-party services, including Apple and RevenueCat, may process information for their own service delivery, security, purchase management, or legal purposes as described in their policies. If our practices change, this section will be updated before or when the changes require disclosure.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App, our services, or legal requirements. We will update the "last updated" date when changes are made. Where required by applicable law, we will provide notice or obtain consent before implementing material changes. You should periodically review this policy to understand our current practices.
ExpendMe is developed and operated by Christopher Ivy, an independent developer. For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, email support@expendme.app.
Please do not email sensitive financial records or unencrypted backup files unless absolutely necessary and you understand the risks of sending them.
In short: ExpendMe is a budgeting tool, not financial advice. ExpendMe Pro is billed through Apple and you can cancel anytime. Keep a backup before you restore or erase data.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of ExpendMe (the "App"), including its budgeting, expense tracking, financial organization, data export, backup, synchronization, and premium features.
ExpendMe is developed and operated by Christopher Ivy, an independent developer ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, purchasing, or using ExpendMe, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the applicable minimum age required in your jurisdiction, to use ExpendMe. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the App only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian where required by law.
You represent that you have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms. You may not use the App where doing so would violate applicable law.
ExpendMe is a personal budgeting and financial organization tool. Depending on your version and subscription, features may include:
Features, availability, and pricing may change over time, subject to applicable law and any rights you have already purchased.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, ExpendMe records information you enter or import yourself. The App does not independently verify that your balances, transactions, income, bills, or other financial records are accurate.
ExpendMe is provided for budgeting, recordkeeping, organization, and general informational purposes only. The App does not provide financial planning, investment recommendations, banking services, credit services, tax advice, legal advice, or professional accounting services. It does not make decisions on your behalf.
Calculations, projected cash balances, net worth estimates, spending summaries, and upcoming bill information are based on the information available in the App and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
You are responsible for verifying your financial information and consulting an appropriately qualified professional when needed. Do not rely solely on ExpendMe when making financial decisions.
You are responsible for the information you enter, import, export, back up, or restore through ExpendMe. You agree to:
You retain your rights to the financial information you provide. You grant us only the limited permissions reasonably necessary to operate, support, and provide the features you choose to use. We do not claim ownership of your personal financial records.
ExpendMe stores financial records and preferences locally on your device by default. iOS Data Protection helps protect app data while your device is locked. The App Lock setting is stored in the iOS Keychain.
No security measure is perfect. Device compromise, unauthorized access while your device is unlocked, operating system vulnerabilities, or other circumstances may expose information.
If you enable iCloud sync, available with ExpendMe Pro, your app data is synchronized through your private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account. Apple provides and governs that service under its own terms and privacy policy.
Disabling sync does not automatically delete data already stored in iCloud. You may need to remove that data separately through your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings. If your ExpendMe Pro subscription expires or ends, synchronization may stop, while data already stored locally remains available. See the Privacy Policy for details.
You may create a backup or export CSV data when supported by your version of ExpendMe. Backup and CSV files created by the App are not password-protected or encrypted by the App. After you save or share a file, it may be accessible to anyone who obtains it. You are responsible for choosing a secure storage location and protecting any copies.
We do not receive backup or CSV files merely because you create them. Files you send to another service become subject to the practices and terms of that service.
A restore operation may replace existing records or merge records, depending on your selection. A replace operation permanently erases the current app data before restoring the selected backup. If iCloud sync is enabled, those changes may synchronize to your other devices and iCloud database.
You are responsible for verifying the selected file and maintaining a separate backup before replacing data. We cannot guarantee that lost or overwritten records can be recovered.
ExpendMe may offer free and paid features. Prices, subscription periods, renewal terms, and included features will be displayed at the point of purchase. Indicative prices may include:
Actual prices, currency, taxes, available offers, and terms may differ by region or storefront. The price and terms presented at checkout control the transaction.
Purchases made through Apple's In-App Purchase system are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's applicable terms. Auto-renewable subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled according to Apple's instructions before the current subscription period ends.
You can manage or cancel Apple subscriptions through your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting ExpendMe does not itself cancel an active subscription. Refunds for purchases processed by Apple are governed by Apple's policies and applicable law. You may request a refund through Apple where available.
If a purchase is offered and completed through an authorized external payment method or website, the payment provider's terms and the terms shown at checkout will apply. Cancellation, renewal, and refund instructions will be provided with that purchase. An external purchase does not automatically replace or cancel a separate Apple subscription.
A "lifetime" purchase means a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the applicable product offering, subject to the features and limitations presented at purchase. It is not a promise that the App, every feature, or any third-party service will operate forever. Applicable consumer rights remain unaffected.
Paid features may depend on third-party services, operating system compatibility, and continued availability of the relevant feature. We will not knowingly use these Terms to eliminate rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
ExpendMe may schedule local notifications to remind you about bills and due dates. Depending on your settings, notifications may display bill names or amounts on your Lock Screen.
You control notification permissions and should adjust your device settings if the displayed information could be seen by others. Notifications may be delayed, disabled, or unavailable because of device settings, system restrictions, or other technical issues. Do not rely on them as your only method of remembering a payment.
The App, including its software, interface, branding, graphics, and other original materials, is owned by or licensed to Christopher Ivy and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for lawful personal purposes in accordance with these Terms and any applicable platform rules.
Except where applicable law permits otherwise, you may not copy, distribute, sell, sublicense, modify, or create derivative works from the App, or attempt to access its source code.
We may maintain, update, modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the App for technical, operational, legal, or business reasons. We will provide notices or obtain consent where required by law. Where a change materially affects a paid feature or an existing purchase, applicable consumer rights and purchase terms will apply.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device, or permanent availability of third-party services such as iCloud.
Your use of ExpendMe is also governed by the ExpendMe Privacy Policy, which explains local storage, optional iCloud synchronization, purchase-related information processed by RevenueCat and Apple, exported files, and your data deletion options.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ExpendMe is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties not expressly provided by us, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, that every calculation will be accurate, that data will never be lost, or that the App will meet every user's needs. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities, data, or goodwill arising from or related to your use of the App.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising from the App or these Terms will be limited to the amount you paid directly to us for the App during the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $50 if you made no such payment.
These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law and do not limit liability that cannot legally be limited, including any applicable statutory consumer rights.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use of the App or your material violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own conduct or where such an obligation would be prohibited by law.
You may stop using ExpendMe at any time and may delete local data using the App's data deletion feature.
We may suspend or terminate access to services we operate if reasonably necessary to address fraud, unlawful conduct, security risks, material violations of these Terms, or discontinuation of a service, subject to applicable law and any rights associated with purchases.
Termination does not automatically delete files you exported or saved elsewhere, and deleting the App does not necessarily delete data in iCloud.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [State], United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory laws in your place of residence apply.
Any court proceedings will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction as determined under applicable law. Nothing in this section deprives consumers of mandatory protections or rights available in their jurisdiction.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will include a revised "last updated" date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide notice or obtain consent where required by law.
Your continued use of ExpendMe after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law.
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain effective to the extent permitted by law.
Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms except as permitted by law. We may transfer our rights and obligations as part of a lawful sale or transfer of the App, subject to applicable law.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any terms presented at purchase, form the agreement governing your use of ExpendMe.
ExpendMe is developed and operated by Christopher Ivy, an independent developer. For questions about these Terms, email support@expendme.app.
